Dog-friendly Pattaya
Dog-friendly restaurants in Pattaya
Plenty of Pattaya restaurants with terraces, gardens or beachfront seating are relaxed about a well-behaved dog at your feet.

Where it works
The pattern is the same as for cafes: outdoor seating is the key. Beachfront restaurants, garden restaurants and the more relaxed bar-and-grill style places — particularly around Jomtien and East Pattaya — are the most likely to welcome a dog. Air-conditioned, formal indoor dining rooms generally will not.
One example often mentioned as dog-friendly is The Dog House Bar & Grill at Jomtien Beach — as ever, confirm the current policy directly. PattayaPets adds restaurants to this guide only once we are confident of them. For a wider list of places to eat out in Pattaya, see the Pattaya Restaurant Guide — always confirm dog policy before you go.
Etiquette for eating out with a dog
- Always ask first, and accept a no gracefully.
- Pick an outdoor table with room for your dog to lie out of the way of staff and other diners.
- Feed your dog before you go so it is settled, not begging.
- Keep it on a short lead and bring its own water.
- Choose quieter times while your dog is still learning.
Places that welcome dogs (confirm before you go)
Outdoor seating is the rule. These are commonly named as dog-friendly around Pattaya — confirm policy when you arrive; we have not reviewed them as dining experiences:
- The Dog House Bar & Grill — Jomtien Beach Road area. Long-standing expat favourite for eating out with a dog on the terrace. Still the name most people mention — verify current hours and table rules.
- Sandbar by the Sea — Dongtan Beach. Beachfront breakfast, brunch and lunch; dogs reported as welcome on outdoor tables.
- Casa Myka — Thappraya Road near Dongtan. More cafe than full restaurant, but serves breakfast and lunch from late morning; dogs welcomed on outdoor seating.
- Pet and Play Cafe — Huai Yai / East Pattaya. Homemade meals plus a fenced area where dogs can run; family-oriented.

Before you go — practical checklist
Every dog outing in Pattaya works better with a short routine:
- Timing — early morning or after sunset in hot season; see where to walk your dog.
- Gear — lead, poop bags, water, towel for sandy or muddy paws.
- Policy — ask at the door; outdoor seating does not guarantee dogs indoors.
- Behaviour — a settled dog keeps venues open to the next owner.
- Heat — watch panting and paw pads; cut visits short if your dog struggles.
Keep rabies vaccination current — required by Thai law and sensible around street animals. For beach trips, rinse salt and sand afterward per beach & sea hazards.
Heat, rain, Songkran and fireworks
Pattaya’s calendar affects outings as much as venue policy:
- Hot season — midday outings are a heatstroke risk; plan shade and water.
- Rainy season — slippery tiles, toads and shorter walks; see rainy-season pet care.
- Songkran — keep dogs away from water-fight zones; see Songkran & your pet.
- Fireworks — festivals and New Year stress noise-sensitive dogs; see fireworks & noise anxiety.
One stressed or overheated dog at a venue can close the door for everyone — leave early if it is not working.
Frequently asked
Can I take my dog to a beachfront restaurant in Pattaya?
Often yes, at outdoor tables — beachfront and garden restaurants tend to be the most relaxed. Always ask when you arrive, and choose a table where your dog can settle out of the way.
Will restaurants provide water for my dog?
Some will, many will not. Bring your own travel bowl and water so your dog is comfortable regardless.
Should I feed my dog before we go out to eat?
A light meal or skip feeding until after helps avoid begging and stomach upset in the heat. Fresh water matters more than table scraps.
Can I take my dog to a night market?
Crowds, heat and food on the ground make night markets stressful for most dogs. If you go, keep a short lead, watch for dropped skewers and leave if your dog is overwhelmed.
Do I need to tip extra for bringing a dog?
Not expected, but clearing up fur and keeping your dog under the table is appreciated. A polite ask at the door beats assuming.
Can I take my dog indoors in Pattaya restaurants?
Usually not in air-conditioned dining rooms. Outdoor terraces and garden seating are where dogs are most often accepted — always ask first.
What if staff say no after I sat down outside?
Leave politely — policies change and staff may be enforcing building rules. Arguing makes the next dog owner less welcome.
Are service or emotional-support dogs treated differently?
Thailand does not mirror all Western service-dog access laws. Ask the venue and airline directly; carry documentation if you have it.
